1. The role of women in the 1950s were portrayed as basically a house wife. One who is married of course. Basically a person that cooks for husband/ kids, and a one who maintains the house and keeps it in tip-top shape. The role of a women in the 1950s was not easy, not only did they have to cook and clean, but they also had to look good all the time. By having their self maintenance and makeup/ hair done all the time. Ms. Warson however, was different. Not only was she not married, but she also didn't walk around with her hair and makeup done all the time. She stood out, and she really didnt care of being a typical 1950s women.
5. I do not think Betty was happy with her marriage. I believe at first she was just happy that she met the standers of the typicall 1950s women being married and having a house and all. But i think she rushed into things which led to her not being happy in the long run with her husband having affairs and her marriage falling apart. I think her mother was also rushing betty to become a typical 1950s women. thats why she didnt let her stay with her. She wanted betty to be married with a home and basically be a housewife.
I agree with you with your second paragraph. She rushed into it too quickly causing her to become unhappy and also she was cheated on and got a divorce.
ReplyDeletei agree with you on discussion 5. Betty was rushing things with Spencer. I honestly didn't think she was ready for all of that anyway and when she saw Spencer with other women she was devastated.
ReplyDeleteI agree that she shouldn't have even got with Spencer because he didn't want to and she wasn't even happy but she did it because everyone else wanted them to.
